Self-initiated project in response to the invitation for an artist-in-residence program at the European Ceramic Work Centre in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. The approach taken was to make illogical pairs of materials to discover new aesthetics. It resulted in an ongoing material and form study in closures and handles for bags with unusual combinations of materials like porcelain, terra-cotta, bronze, plastic, polyurethane rubber, and techniques like basket weaving and silk-screened leather. All the ceramic elements have been hand made during the residency at the EKWC.
